External Definition is a series of sculptures investigating the definition of a space.  In this work, the plinth is an essential element as it determines the arrangement of books positioned on it. The base’s edges delineate an internal area and establish its borders, which then vertically mark out the battery of books by deducting the parts stretching out. The plinth defines the sculpture’s negative space.
